The Lake House

Let me start by saying that I really wasn’t that interested in watching this movie. You see it is definitely in the category of “Chick Flick”. I would have to give back a few man points if I actually said that I wanted to watch this film. I might get away with it somewhat as it stars Sandra Bullock. Pretty much any movie is made better through her inclusion….excluding Speed 2 which is one of the worst movies of all time. Oh, it stars some dude, Keanu Reeves as well.
The movie is about a house on the lake (bet you didn’t see that coming) which is at one time the home of Sandra’s character and at another time Keanu’s character. This is where it gets spooky. You see, even though they are talking now (writing letters actually) one is in 2004 and the other in 2006.
Now stories that use time as a plot device take a big chance in my opinion. It can be difficult to make it believable for lack of a better word, while still not contradicting itself. This one did an adequate job if not perfect. I tend to be a tad bit critical of this type of thing so I won’t bore you with items you might not even think of when you watch.
Overall the characters were likable and it was easy to like them. You actually find yourself wanting everything to work out.
I would say that if you are looking to earn a few brownie points with your girl this is a good way to do it. Next time you are at the rental store picking out films and she looks at you like “Oh man, not another Jet Li movie” grab this one. Look her in the eye and say “why don’t we watch this one as I’m sure you will like it better one of my normal movies”. Who knows what might happen later……
Trust me, even as a guy you won’t go wrong with this one. I’ll give it a
