There has not been a review of foreign movie on the site for a while so here we go. This film would fit best into the chick flick category as it is technically a romance. However, there is a touch of magic like fantasy floating around as well.

The main character is a girl named Tita. She is the youngest of three sisters and therefore, due to family tradition, she will not be allowed to marry. Instead she must take care of her mother until the mother dies. As you would expect based upon that slight description, she immediately falls helplessly in love with Pedro. Tita finds that she can project her feelings into her cooking. When people consume the food, they are overcome by whatever feelings were in force at the time the food was prepared. This definitely leads to some interesting happenings. Most of the occurrences are humorous in some fashion but over all this is a fairly depressing film. I won’t exactly say you should avoid this film but if you decide to watch it go in expecting a weird ride. When it was over Makki and I kind of sat there in stunned silence for a few moments.
